These Terms & Conditions apply to applications for the Manor Place Residency 2027 intake (the “Residency”).
The Residency is operated by PALACE SKATEBOARDS LIMITED incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 08253929 whose registered office is at 33 Manor Place, London, England, SE17 3BD (“Palace”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By submitting an application, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
The Manor Place Residency is a creative residency programme providing selected creatives with access to a designated residency pod and workspace at Manor Place for a period of approximately 12 months.
For the 2027 intake, there are five residency places/pods available, at Palace’s discretion.
Subject to the successful applicant entering into, and complying with the terms of, the required residency agreement, each selected resident will receive access to their allocated residency pod and the relevant facilities at Manor Place for the agreed residency period.
The Residency is provided free of charge. It does not constitute employment, a partnership, joint venture, tenancy, lease or other form of employment or commercial relationship between the resident and Palace, Nike, Palace or any of their respective affiliates.
The Residency period is currently intended to run from approximately 11 January 2027 to 17 December 2027, subject to confirmation and Palace’s discretion. The final dates and terms of occupation will be set out in the residency agreement entered into with each successful applicant.
Applicants must:
be 18 years of age or over at the time of application;
be engaged in a creative practice or discipline;
be able to make reasonable use of the Residency during the residency period;
be able to comply with the rules, policies and health and safety requirements applicable to Manor Place; and
provide accurate and complete information in their application.
We may request additional information or evidence from an applicant where reasonably necessary to assess eligibility.
We reserve the right to reject an application where an applicant does not meet the eligibility requirements or where information supplied is inaccurate, misleading or incomplete.
Applications must be submitted through the official Manor Place Residency application form by the published deadline.
Applicants may be asked to provide:
their name and contact details;
location and age;
social media or other online links;
details of their creative practice;
a portfolio or examples of previous work;
answers to questions relating to their practice and proposed use of the Residency; and
information about their workspace and resource requirements.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted is accurate and that any links or files provided are accessible and functioning.
We are not responsible for applications which are lost, corrupted, incomplete, inaccessible, submitted late or otherwise not received successfully.
We may close or extend the application period at our discretion.
Applicants retain ownership of the copyright and other intellectual property rights in their portfolio, artwork and other creative materials submitted as part of their application.
By submitting an application, you grant Palace and Nike, and any authorised parties involved in the assessment of applications, a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free right to access, review and reproduce your submitted materials solely to the extent reasonably necessary to administer, assess and manage the Residency application process.
We will not commercially exploit, publish, sell, license or otherwise use submitted creative work for unrelated purposes without your permission.
Applicants must ensure that they have the necessary rights and permissions to submit all materials included in their application.
You must not submit material which infringes the copyright, trade marks, privacy rights, confidentiality rights or other rights of another person.
Applications will be reviewed following the published application deadline.
The selection process may include:
an initial review of applications;
shortlisting;
an invitation to an interview or meeting;
further assessment of shortlisted applicants; and
final selection of residents.
We may consider factors including, without limitation:
the applicant’s creative practice and previous work;
the applicant’s proposed use of the Residency;
the applicant’s stage of practice or career;
the applicant’s availability and anticipated use of the space;
their ability to contribute positively to the Manor Place community; and
the overall composition and balance of the Residency cohort.
We are not obliged to provide individual feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
Our decision regarding the selection of residents is final.
Being shortlisted does not guarantee selection or a residency place.
Successful applicants will be required to enter into a separate written residency agreement before being granted access to the Residency.
The residency agreement will set out the specific terms applicable to the resident, including access arrangements, permitted use of the space, conduct requirements, health and safety requirements, termination provisions and any other applicable conditions.
In the event of any conflict between these application Terms & Conditions and the signed residency agreement, the residency agreement will take precedence in relation to the resident’s occupation and use of Manor Place.
Residents must use Manor Place responsibly and only for lawful creative, professional and community-related activities consistent with the purpose of the Residency.
Residents must:
comply with all reasonable instructions given by Palace, Manor Place staff or authorised representatives;
comply with all applicable health and safety requirements;
respect other residents, visitors, staff and members of the Manor Place community;
keep their allocated pod and any shared facilities reasonably clean and tidy;
use equipment and facilities responsibly;
not interfere with the use and enjoyment of Manor Place by other people;
not undertake activities which create an unreasonable risk to people, property or the building;
not use Manor Place for unlawful, dangerous or abusive activities;
not bring prohibited, hazardous or illegal substances or materials into the premises;
not use the space for unauthorised commercial, retail or other activities;
not permit unauthorised individuals to access restricted areas or use the Residency facilities; and
comply with any additional house rules, policies or procedures notified to them.
Residents may be required to attend an induction before being granted access to certain areas, equipment or facilities.
Manor Place is intended to be a safe, respectful and collaborative creative environment.
We expect all residents and their guests to behave appropriately and respectfully.
We have zero tolerance for unlawful harassment, bullying, discrimination, threatening behaviour, violence, abuse, deliberate damage or conduct which materially disrupts the Manor Place community.
A resident may also be required to leave the premises immediately where we reasonably consider this necessary to protect people, property or the operation of Manor Place.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a resident’s access to Manor Place and/or terminate their residency where we reasonably consider that:
the resident has breached these Terms & Conditions, the residency agreement or applicable house rules;
the resident has engaged in inappropriate, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, unlawful or unsafe conduct;
the resident has damaged Manor Place property or equipment;
the resident has materially misused the facilities;
the resident has provided materially false or misleading information;
the resident has allowed unauthorised persons to use their access or pod;
the resident’s continued presence creates a material risk to people, property or the operation of Manor Place; or
the resident’s continued participation is otherwise incompatible with the proper operation of the Residency.
Where reasonably practicable, we may give the resident an opportunity to address a breach before termination. However, we may suspend or terminate access immediately where we reasonably consider this necessary because of the seriousness or urgency of the circumstances.
Where access is suspended or a residency is terminated, the resident must comply with all instructions relating to removal of their belongings and cessation of access.
While we will use reasonable efforts to provide the Residency and facilities described to successful applicants, we do not guarantee that every facility, piece of equipment or service will be available at all times.
Facilities may be unavailable because of maintenance, repair, health and safety requirements, operational requirements, events, third-party circumstances or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may reasonably alter, suspend or restrict access to parts of Manor Place where necessary.
Residents are responsible for their own personal property, artwork, equipment, materials, computers and other belongings brought onto the premises.
Residents should take appropriate steps to secure and insure their own property.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Palace is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property brought onto or stored at Manor Place, except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Residents are responsible for any damage caused by them, or by their guests, to Manor Place or its property to the extent permitted by law.
Residents must follow all health and safety instructions applicable to Manor Place and must use equipment and facilities only in accordance with any relevant instructions or training.
Residents must immediately report any accident, injury, unsafe condition, damage or other incident to Palace.
Certain activities, equipment or facilities may require prior approval, induction, training or supervision.
We reserve the right to prohibit or restrict activities which we reasonably consider unsafe or inappropriate for the premises.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the preceding paragraph, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Palace, Nikeand their respective affiliates, officers, employees and representatives shall not be liable for:
indirect or consequential loss;
loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity or anticipated savings;
loss or damage to personal property, equipment, artwork or materials brought onto the premises; or
loss arising from the unavailability, interruption or temporary closure of facilities,
except where such loss results from liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Applicants and residents should obtain their own insurance where appropriate for their activities, equipment, artwork and personal property.
Participation in the Residency does not create an employment, agency, partnership, joint venture or other commercial relationship between a resident and Palace or Nike.
Residents are responsible for their own tax, insurance, legal and regulatory obligations arising from their activities.
We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to the Residency, including changes to dates, facilities, access arrangements, house rules and operational procedures.
Where a material change is necessary, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions creates an obligation on Palace to operate the Residency indefinitely or to offer future residency programmes.
Information submitted as part of an application will be used for the purposes of administering and assessing applications for the Manor Place Residency and managing the selection process.
We will handle personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law and our Privacy Notice.
Application information will only be accessible to persons who reasonably need access to it for the purposes of administering, assessing or managing the Residency, subject to the terms of the Privacy Notice.
We will not use applicants’ personal data for unrelated marketing, publication or commercial purposes without an appropriate legal basis and, where required, consent.
Unless we are legally required to retain information, application data will be deleted or securely disposed of once it is no longer required for the application and selection process, in accordance with our stated retention period and applicable data protection requirements.

We will treat application information as confidential and will not publish an applicant’s application, portfolio or responses without their permission, except where disclosure is required by law or is otherwise permitted under the Privacy Notice.
This does not prevent us from sharing information with authorised personnel or service providers where reasonably necessary to administer and assess applications, subject to applicable data protection requirements.
Applications may include links to third-party websites or social media profiles.
We are not responsible for the content, availability, security or privacy practices of third-party websites or platforms.
Applicants should review the relevant terms and privacy policies of any third-party service they use.
Submission of an application does not create any obligation on Palace to shortlist, interview or select an applicant.
We reserve the right not to fill all available residency places.
We may also cancel or amend the application process where reasonably necessary.
We reserve the right to reject or disregard an application where we reasonably believe that information has been deliberately falsified, manipulated or submitted fraudulently.
If a successful applicant is subsequently found to have provided materially false or misleading information, this may result in the termination of their residency.
These Terms & Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales shall have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights or protections available to an applicant or resident under applicable law.
